Artist & Scenic Designer: JEFF CAIN
Jeff Cain is an artist and designer who works with sculpture, video, sound, photography, and performance. His studio, the Shed Research Institute, is an umbrella organization for independent research, public art projects, and site-specific design projects. Cain received his MFA in studio art from Cal Arts. His works have been shown in at the Musee d'art Modern de Ville de Paris and Kyiv's Center for Contemporary Art, as well as locally at the Getty Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, UCI University Art Gallery, Track 16, and the 18th Street Arts Center.
Cain has work collaboratively on projects with performers since 1999 as a set, lighting, and media designer. Collaborators have included osseus labyrint, Rosanna Gamson/World Wide Dance, Ptero Dance Theater, Ron Athey, Tim Miller, Karen Finley, and many others. Cain was awarded a Lester Horton Award in with Ann Kaneko for best set design in 2002.
He has worked as faculty at USC Roski School of Fine Arts, CalArts, Cal State Fullerton, Sci-Arc, and Whittier College. He is the Exhibition Designer for UCR ARTSblock
Lighting Designer: NIKOLAY MASLOV
Nikolay Maslov is a graduate of UC Riverside and the School of Cinematic Arts at USC. As a lighting designer at the Culver Center of the Arts, Nikolay has collaborated on performances by Daniel Bernard Roumain, Sheron Wray, nunu kong, Sara Juli, and others. A Flowering Tree is Nikolay's first collaboration with Riverside Lyric Opera.
Choreographer: JESSICA ADAMS
Born in Riverside, Jessica trained with Riverside Ballet Arts from the age of 10 to 17, when she then moved to Miami, FL to study with the Miami City Ballet School. While attending the school Jessica had the opportunity to work and tour with the company until 2006 when she became a member of the Colorado Ballet. Jessica has performed in ballets such as “Cinderella” and “The Nutcracker” by David Allan, “Symphony In C”, “Who Cares” and “Concerto Barroco” by George Balanchine, “Dracula” by Michael Pink and “Where The Wild Things Are” by Septime Webre.
Jessice joined the staff of Riverside Ballet Arts in the Spring of 2008 and contiues to choreograph works for Riverside Ballet Arts, Riverside City College and BRAVA. Jessica is committed to not only bringing dance to Riverside through her work with BRACA but also working to bridge the gap between arts whithin the community.
