John Charles Hansen

John Charles Hansen, born in Logan, Utah, now makes his home in Southern California with his wife JoAnn. They have been married 31 years and have 6 children. Mr. Hansen has sung in over 500 performances in 50 different roles in opera, operetta and musical theater. Ranging from Figaro, the Count and Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro, the role of Don Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore in opera to the Mikado and Pooh Bah in The Mikado, the Sergeant, the Major General, the Pirate King and Samuel in The Pirates of Penzance, Bunthorne and Col. Calverley in Patience in Operetta to McNair in 1776 and Ben in The Secret Garden.
He has performed with Dallas Lyric Opera, Opera Idaho, Opera West, Utah Opera Festival, Helena Symphony and Nevada Opera Theater as well as several local Southern California companies, including Riverside Lyric Opera. John has directed operas for Riverside Lyric Opera, Intimate Opera Company, the Idaho Falls Opera Company as well as the Brigham Young University Idaho where he worked as an adjunct Professor.
